      <image:title>About - Exploring the role of nature in mental wellbeing</image:title>
      <image:caption>We are a collective of mostly doctoral-level psychologists and researchers who have a shared interest in improving treatment and prevention of mental health problems. We are an apolitical research group focussed on the meaning and potential benefit of natural environments to human health and wellbeing, both in clinical and community groups of people.</image:caption>

      <image:title>About - Prevention as well as Treatment</image:title>
      <image:caption>Although treatments for common mental health problems do exist we are unlikely to ever have enough resources to treat everyone in need.</image:caption>
    </image:image>

      <image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/60e85b46f2ab66291f201eca/1629737326917-G8V7B1W7ZQQVLMDKVNG8/unsplash-image-9k36QqhA0cU.jpg</image:loc>
      <image:title>About - Personalised: What works for whom?</image:title>
      <image:caption>Efficacy for both treatment and prevent interventions could be enhanced by tailoring the intervention to meet the needs of the individual.</image:caption>
    </image:image>

      <image:title>About - Understanding how nature can be beneficial</image:title>
      <image:caption>There are likely to be myriad ways in which nature can be beneficial in improving wellbeing but these are not certain yet. Some of the candidate mechanisms include: stress reduction, attention restoration, exercise, becoming more mindful and reducing negative thinking such as worry and rumination.</image:caption>
    </image:image>
    <image:image>
      <image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/60e85b46f2ab66291f201eca/1629738321510-LB6HIO8HLOKTSZL602RH/unsplash-image-GPxgi4J82E4.jpg</image:loc>
      <image:title>About - Long-term change across the lifecourse</image:title>
      <image:caption>To understand change in wellbeing and connection with nature we need to study these two factors closely over long periods of time at different ages and stages of life. To achieve this we need more longitudinal research studies.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Projects - A nature imagery study</image:title>
      <image:caption>Background: Imagery can be a powerful tool for some to help visualise natural environments and improve wellbeing. This can be especially important for those who struggle to or cannot be outside in nature. Findings: We found that the guided nature imagery was just as effective as our nature meditation in improving self-compassion, reducing negative thinking and increasing a sense of connection to nature. <image:title>Projects - Therapy for children and young people (CYP): Comparing indoors and outdoors with a preference study.</image:title>
      <image:caption>Background: We need to know if CYP with low mood have a preference for accessing therapy indoors or outdoors and have designed a brief outdoor nature-based group therapy for this purpose and compare it to a standard therapy to be accessed indoors. Findings: We will report the preferences for the group of CYP and test two main things. 1) will the therapies reduce symptoms of low mood and 2) will there be any differences in change between the two groups . Paper: Coming soon.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Can virtual nature improve wellbeing? Background: We don’t always have time to access green or blue space and many of us including adolescence are increasingly poor time. We tested the effect in young people of watching a 6-minute woodland walk video on mental wellbeing. Findings: The study showed that when compared with an urban video those watching the woodland walk improved on a range of measures including stress, nature connection and ecological spirituality. <image:title>Projects - Nature-based therapy</image:title>
      <image:caption>Background: Sometimes self-help is not enough. Nature-based therapy may be a successful treatment option for depression. Not all treatments work for everyone and nature-based therapy may be a very beneficial alternative to current therapies. We plan to test our ROWAN nature therapy for people experiencing depressive symptoms and low mood. Findings: Coming soon. Paper: Coming soon.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Projects - Nature and wellbeing: A qualitative study</image:title>
      <image:caption>Background: A lot of research looks at mental health problems but wellbeing is often overlooked. Exploring the lived experience of people in nature may help us understand the ways in which nature can support high wellbeing. Findings: In a qualitative analysis of experiences in nature we found important themes relating to the human-nature relationship. Paper: Click here.</image:caption>
